Panama City, FL currently holds the world record for a bikini parade, but Maryland’s Ocean City is plotting a full-on assault on the title. Speaking to the Washington Post Ocean City Councilman Brent Ashley boasts that the oceanside resort town is aiming for at least 2,012 bikini-clad participants.
The rumor is the record attempt will occur near Labor Day.

The world record for the largest bikini parade ever was set on Tuesday in Panama City Beach, Florida. Guinness officials certified that the event, with 450 participants, broke the record of 357 bikini marchers set last year in Brisbane, Australia.
Bikinis, and only bikinis, were allowed on the march which doubled as a fundraiser for a local charity.
Australian police are hunting for bikini model Simone Farrow (aka Simone Starr) after she skipped bail backed by a top lawyer and doctor. Farrow, once voted one of FHM magazine’s sexiest women in the world, was arrested in 2009 for importing meth illegally to the island nation.
The 37 year old model was free after lawyer Anthony Renshaw and Dr. Joseph Grech put up $161,000 dollars in bond for her. She was reportedly living at Grech’s apartment.
A warrant was issued for Farrow’s arrest after she failed to show up for a court date.

A new photo has been released of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model Kate Upton in her role in the upcoming Three Stooges movie. The photo shows Upton, who plays a nun, poolside with the stooges.

Cheryl Tiegs isn’t happy about Kate Upton’s new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover, describing the 19 year old’s bikini pose as “two strands away from Playboy.”
Tiegs, a former SI cover model herself, told Access Hollywood that “it’s not my favorite Sports Illustrated cover of all time” and was “a step toward Playboy” and away from the magazine’s traditional girl next door image.
Tiegs was recently fired from NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice.

A Florida man has his crutches to thank for warding off an attempted robbery by a bikini-clad woman and her accomplice.
Two women — one who was wearing a bikini — tried to hold down William Joseph Knowles of Hollywood, Florida and take his wallet. Knowles used his crutches, which he had due to a skin fracture, to ward of the attackers (Amber Lynn McKay, 22 and Veronica Anne Lane, 21). The two women were later apprehended by police and charged with robbery. [MyFox]
A Florida bikini bar failed to attract crime and other unsavory elements, despite the moralizing of protesters.
The opening of Cheaters Gentlemen’s Club, a bikini bar in Ormond, Florida, was opposed by a conservative group called Unity in the Community who said the establishment would attract crime and lower property values.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal got police records and faound that there were no calls about prostitution and drugs at the bikini bar.
Police also said they received about the same amount of calls about the bikini bar as other bars in the area.
Police in Indianapolis are on the hunt for a man who broke into a daycare center. The man rifles through girl’s bathing suits then puts on and wears a pink bikini. He is described as a white or hispanic male between 5’5″ to 5’7″. [MSNBC]

A parade of 350 bikini-clad Australian women has broken the Guiness World Record for bikini parades.

The Malaysian government has banned a bikini contest at a resort there. The Pangkor Island Beach Resort had planned to preview the Miss Bikini pageant, but government officials insisted it would “tarnish the country’s image.”
The resort insisted that there would not have been any women in bikinis at the event, but Facebook pictures of bikini-clad women worried the government. [Press Association]
