The Big Show

A former producer has sued WWE and wrestler The Big Show (real name: Paul Wight). In his lawsuit, Andrew Green alleges that The Big Show screamed obscenities and assaulted him while recording an interview for use on the web.

The lawsuit alleges, “Big Show then grabbed Green by the collar and throat, striking Green in the face and backing him up against a trunk while declaring ‘You son of a bitch … Are you having fun right now … Don’t even come up to me again … I don’t give a shit who you are’.”

Green claims that Paul Michael Levesque, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent and Live Events (who also wrestles under the name Triple H), forced him to reshoot the interview two more times. He says the interview was posted online, viewed 100,000 times, then pulled offline.

As a result, Green said he became anxious around the wrestlers as a result of the attack, and also claims that previously the WWE has “suspended or terminated Big Show’s employment because of his behavior, including his engagement in violent and/or unlawful and/or improper activities outside of the wrestling venue.”

Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson got an 8% pay raise from the previous year to take home $27 million dollars, according to an AP analysis.

Tillerson, who has served as the oil giant’s top man for 7 years, got his increase months before the company’s oil pipeline in Mayflower, Arkansas, ruptured.

The spill, estimated at thousands of gallons, has seeped into homes and neighborhoods in what the EPA has designated as a major accident.

Exxon has been accused of attempting to cover up the extent of the accident by limiting press access to the site.

Tillerson was a multi-million dollar contributor to the failed campaign of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Laurene Powell Jobs spoke to NBC, describing the current immigration system as “a waste of lives, such a waste of potential, such a waste for our country not to have the human capital that we developed.”

Chinese officials are investigating a wild multi-day sex party that reportedly took place at a trade show in the province of Hainan.

Reports indicate that celebrities, models, and the super-rich attended the event at the Hainan Rendez-Vous Lifestyle and Yacht Show.

One model was reportedly paid $97,000 to attend the sex parties. Another report says that over 2,000 condoms were used at one party.

Several wealthy people have denied the online reports, saying that they have been exaggerated.

Apple Campus

Apple will be paying out $53 million to its customers as a result of the settlement of a class-action lawsuit.

Apple reportedly refused to honor warranties to repair iPhone and iPod Touches if a white indicator tape inside the phone had turned pink or red. This was supposed to show that the device had made contact with water, but 3M — who made the indicator — says humidity, and not water contact, could change the tape color.

The settlement applies to the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and the first three generations of the iPod Touch.

In a series of tweets, the official account for the police force highlights the luxury vehicles with a top speed of 217 miles per hour.

According to the report, the women working in the store all wear short shorts and tight tank tops in a store filled with leather chairs and flat screen TVs.

They attract customers by sending the scantily-clad women to hand out leaflets on Wall Street.

Matthew Warren committed suicide over the weekend after a struggle with depression.

The US Senate voted today to begin debate on laws to restrict gun violence. One measure with widespread support involves universal background checks for gun purchases, including purchases made over the Internet. A bipartisan compromise measure would exempt gun transfers between family members.

Apple is very near to a deal with Universal Music to provide songs for a streaming music service.

iRadio, as some are calling it, will compete with existing services like Pandora and Spotify. It is believed that default placement on iPhones, iPods, and iPads could create a major contender in the world of streaming music.

The Verge also reports that Apple is close to a deal with Warner Music.

The researchers from Bucknell University and Fauna and Flora International discovered the creature on the Bangangai Game Reserve while conducting field research in the area.

DeeAnn Reeder, associate professor of biology at Bucknell University, called it “the find of a lifetime.” She said, “My attention was immediately drawn to the bat’s strikingly beautiful and distinct pattern of spots and stripes. It was clearly a very extraordinary animal, one that I had never seen before.”

While researchers in 1939 found a bat with similar markings, Reeder said this new bat was different: “Its cranial characters, its wing characters, its size, the ears, literally everything you look at doesn’t fit. It’s so unique that we need to create a new genus.”

They have named the new bat genus Niumbaha, which is “rare” or “unusual” in Zande, the native language for the Azande people who live in the region where the bat was found.

The FDA has announced that dietary supplements containing a stimulant called dimethylamylamine (DMAA) are not safe for consumers.

DMAA is used in supplements promoting weight loss, muscle building and performance enhancement.

The agency warns that DMAA can “can elevate blood pressure and could lead to cardiovascular problems, including heart attack, shortness of breath and tightening of the chest.”

The FDA says it can be particularly dangerous when used with caffeine.

60 reports of illness and death associated with DMAA have been received by the FDA.

Companies known for using DMAA have been issued warning letters from the agency. The affected supplements are: Biorhythm SSIN Juice, Lean Efx, Spirodex, PWR, Napalm, Code Red, Hemo Rage Black, Lipo-6 Black, MethylHex, Nitric Blast, Oxy Elite Pro, and Jack3D.

The FDA does not approve dietary supplements. Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., director of FDA’s Division of Dietary Supplement Program said, “Consumers may mistakenly look at a capsule and think that FDA has signed off on that product as safe and effective prior to that product appearing on the market, as we do with drugs and other medical products.”

A California teen is under arrest after kidnapping and attempting to rape a female classmate.

Jesus Gabriel Lares, 18, of Valley High School in North Hills, CA has been charged with kidnapping and attempted rape after he reportedly abducted a 17 year old girl after lunch.

Lares is accused of taking the girl into the boy’s bathroom, kissing her, and attempting to disrobe her.

The victim escaped when another student attempted to use the bathroom. She then told her teacher who alerted the police.

Las Vegas casinos just had their best single month of revenues ever.

Figures released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board showed that casinos in the state brought in $1.073 billion in revenues in February, 15% more than a year ago.

Officials estimate that the timing of the Chinese New Year contributed to the boost in gambling, the most ever in a single month for the world’s gambling mecca.

Much of the boost came from baccarat games, which brought in $264.2 million — the most ever for that game.

$500 million has been raised for the George W. Bush Presidential Center, according to a Time report.

Robinov also said that director Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan have set up the space to “allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world.”

After the worldwide success of Marvel’s Avengers movie, which was set up by Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk films, comic book fans have been clamoring for a DC Comics version of the same experience.

The fad of 3D theatrically released movies is over, according to a new report.

Fitch Ratings agency, reporting on the state of the movie exhibition industry, says that box office revenues for 3D movies will decline in 2013 — the first time this has happened since 2009.

Fitch says, “the initial excitement has dwindled, and consumers are focused again on the overall quality of the film and are weighing the cost of a premium ticket versus a base 2-D ticket.”

The agency also notes that “increased pricing, particularly on 3-D films” are hurting the popular view of movie-going as one of the lower cost forms of entertainment for faimilies.

Recently deceased film critic Roger Ebert panned the 3D movie fad, writing in 2011 that “the notion that we are asked to pay a premium to witness an inferior and inherently brain-confusing image is outrageous.”

The Senate has passed the 60 vote majority needed to begin debate on efforts to curb gun violence.

Despite the efforts of the NRA to intimidate Senators, the debate has now begun as families of victims of the Newtown, CT, shootings looked on.

The Senate will debate issues like an assault weapons ban, limiting the size of gun magazines, and universal background checks — a measure which has wide support across party lines.

Rapper Jay-Z is pushing back on Republican lawmakers who have attempted to launch an investigation of his anniversary trip to Cuba with his wife, Beyonce.

In a song entitled “Open Letter” posted to his website, the hip hop star says: “Politicians never did shit for me, except lie to me, distort history. They wanna give me jail time and a fine. Fine, let me commit a real crime.”

Jay-Z also says, “I love Cubans” and that “this Communist talk is so confusing,” while noting that China, also a Communist country, manufactures “this mic that I’m using.”

Florida Republicans, including Senator Marco Rubio, decided to attack the high profile Obama backers for the Cuban trip.

Windows 8 is a failure. Expected to boost PC sales, instead research firm IDC reports that desktop computer sales dropped 13.9% during the first three months of 2013 compared to a year ago.

That’s the biggest drop in the 20 years the company has tracked PC sales.

Smartphones and tablets, like the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices are eating into PC sales.

Bob O’Donnell, program vice president for clients and displays at IDC, also blames Windows 8: “At this point, unfortunately, it seems clear that the Windows 8 launch not only failed to provide a positive boost to the PC market, but appears to have slowed the market.”

The radical changes introduced in Windows 8 have been widely panned by reviewers and users, with some noting that the previous version — Windows 7 — was a far more user-friendly iteration of the operating system.

The Cuban government did not know in advance about Beyonce and Jay-Z’s trip to their island, according to a New York Times report.

The Times reports that Academic Arrangements Abroad, the group that arranged the couple’s trip, said “that the visit was a surprise to Cuban leaders, who struggled to provide adequate security with just a day’s notice.”

The source also told the paper that Beyonce and Jay-Z made arrangements for their trip in a similar fashion to the other 10,000 Americans who visit the country each year.

Republicans in Congress, including Sen. Marco Rubio have criticized the couple for their choice of a destination and some House Republicans from Florida have demanded a government probe into the trip.

PAC-3 Patriot Missile

The Japanese government has deployed missile defense batteries to several sites around Tokyo.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters the Patriot missiles had been deployed in response to ongoing provocation from the North Korean government.

Japan is using the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile system.

A group pushing for a Watergate-style investigation of the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Egypt, was created by a birther conspiracy theorist.

The organization, Special Operations Speaks, recently sent a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives in support of a Republican bill to establish a “a House Select Committee on the Terrorist Attack in Benghazi.”

Special Operations Speaks was founded by former Navy SEAL Larry Bailey, who proudly proclaimed, “I’m a Birther.”

Bailey also said, “If there were a jury of 12 good men and women and the evidence were placed before them, there would be absolutely no question Barack Obama was not born where he said he was and is not who he says he is.”

The right-wing conspiracy theory that President Obama was not born in the United States has repeatedly been disproven. President Obama released two forms of his birth certificate, which was verified by all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the United States Congress.

Conservatives have repeatedly claimed that there was a cover-up of the Benghazi attack, even though President Obama described it as terrorism soon after it occurred.

Some have said that Republicans plan to use the Benghazi conspiracy as a pretext to impeach President Obama and attempt to remove him from office.

Special Operations Speaks also funded unsuccessful efforts to defeat President Obama in the 2012 election.
