X-RockA voluntary recall has been issued for X-Rock, an over the counter male sexual supplement by its manufacturer X-Rock Industries.

The presence of the drugs sildenafil and hydroxythiohomosildenafil, used to treat erectile dysfunction, prompted the alert. Those drugs could interact with prescription drugs and cause blood pressure to be lowered to a dangerous level.

The two astronauts behind a push against climate science at NASA have ties to right-wing organizations with sketchy scientific credentials and a history of promoting outlandish climate conspiracies.

In a March 28 letter to NASA, “49 former NASA scientists and astronauts” urge NASA Administrator Charles Bolden to stop the organization from “refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites.” The letter claims, “We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated.”

The letter runs counter to the discoveries of mainstream science, which has detailed the ongoing damage created by global climate change.

Former Apollo astronauts Walter Cunningham and Harrison “Jack” Schmitt are listed as the main contacts for the letter, and their past advocacy against climate change science calls into question the scientific validity of the petition.

In 2009 Schmitt appeared on the talk show of 9/11 conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and said that he believed that the environmental movement was a front for Communism.

“I think the whole trend really began with the fall of the Soviet Union. Because the great champion of the opponents of liberty, namely communism, had to find some other place to go and they basically went into the environmental movement,” Schmitt said.

Walter Cunningham wrote against climate science in a pamphlet published by the Heartland Institute, a right-wing think tank dedicated to fighting climate science.

Schmitt was also a speaker at a conference arranged by the Heartland Institute to deny climate change.

ExxonMobil, the energy giant who stands to gain from the denial of climate science, has been a major funder of Heartland Institute in the past.

Recently leaked documents show a project by Heartland designed to subvert traditional science education and promote climate change denial.

FrackingA new study from the U.S. Geological Survey finds that a 600% increase in small earthquakes may be connected to fracking, drilling for natural gas and other materials in rock formations.

The study found that earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 in the nation’s midsection rose from 21 quakes a year between 1970 and 2000 to 29 quakes a year between 2001 and 2008. Even more earthquakes occurred in 2009, 2010 and 2011 – 50, 87 and 134 respectively.

The USGS report found the quake increase was “almost certainly man-made.”

Blonde Teenage GirlTeenagers are so obsessed with having good tans for prom that they are ignoring a boom in melanoma.

A study published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings found that melanoma in young adults has increased 600% in the last 40 years. It’s even worse among women 18 to 39, where melanoma has increased 800% between 1970 and 2009.

Dermatologists say teens should stop using tanning beds, noting that the increase in melanoma is directly tied to the rise of tanning salons.

The profitable tanning industry disputes the connection, despite the data.

Esperanza Gomez In A BikiniBreast implant recipients increase the amount of sex they have, according to a new survey. According to data from Real Self, a medical beauty site, 61% of women who had breast implants reported that they were having more sex while only 7% reported they were making love less.

Those who had breast implants also claimed that they were more satisfied with their sex lives.

Dr. Andrew P. Trussler, Plastic Surgery Assistant Professor for the University of Texas, said the poll results were not surprising: “In my personal observation, women definitely feel more confident after the procedure, and you can easily see how that improved confidence will lead to improvements in other areas of their lives.”

Study: Ice Cream Affects Brain Like Cocaine

by National Confidential Staff | 05 March 2012 | 7:05 am EST

Woman Eating Ice CreamA new study finds that ice cream has an effect on the human brain that is similar to cocaine. The study, found in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, says that overeating ice cream dulls the reward effect usually associated with occasional treats.

Dr Kyle Burger, co-author of the study, says that “This down-regulation pattern is seen with frequent drug use, where the more an individual uses the drug, the less reward they receive from using it.”

The study gave people milkshakes as they monitored their brains with a Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Machine. The people who consumed the most ice cream craved it more, but enjoyed eating it less.

As weeks went by, those who ate the most ice cream had to eat more to match the pleasure level of those given more limited quantities of the treat.
