Conservative groups with campaigns against same sex marriage are having money trouble.

A new report from Reuters reveals that ProtectMarriage.com, a group fighting to keep California’s ban on same-sex marriage in place, had a $2 million shortfall in 2011. The group is also $700,000 short of its current Supreme Court costs.

Groups opposed to same sex marriage were also outspent in 2012 fights for equality, eventually losing at the ballot box for the first time in states like Maine and Maryland.

Public opinion has also shifted. Increasing amounts of Americans have begun to support same sex marriage, including President Obama and Vice President Biden, the highest ranking leaders in America ever to do so.
