A Kansas couple plead guilty to federal firearms charges after they were caught illegally selling guns out of their beauty salon.

Jeffrey Eberhart, 51, and Tracey Eberhart, 42, (pictured) operated “Traceys Dream Weavers Salon And Sporting Goods” in Augusta, Kansas. The store advertised itself as “Where Beauty and Bullets Collide.”

Mr. Eberhart, a convicted felon, was not legally licensed to sell guns but admitted that he bought and sold hundreds of firearms at his store and at gun shows from Oct. 1, 2009, to Aug. 22, 2012.

His wife was licensed to sell weapons, but illegally failed to keep records of at least 33 gun sales. She also did not report the sales to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as required.

Prosecutors are recommending a sentence of five years in federal prison for Jeffrey Eberhart and three years probation for Tracey Eberhart.

Critics of the gun industry have argued for years that the lax regulations surrounding sales of firearms at gun shows has contributed to gun violence.
