The White House is striking back at an NRA ad attacking the first daughters.

In comments to Reuters, White House spokesman Jay Carney described the NRA video as “repugnant and cowardly.”

The controversial video from the pro-gun group attacks the President for having Secret Service protection of his children, despite their high value as a target for terrorists or other criminals, while opposing the militarization of schools promoted by the NRA.

Carney whole statement: “Most Americans agree that a president’s children should not be used as pawns in a political fight. But to go so far as to make the safety of the president’s children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly.”

Obama is expected to announce several gun violence prevention measures today alongside the vice president.
