Executive orders are likely to be a part of the Obama administration’s efforts to stop gun violence, according to a member of Congress.

Appearing on MSNBC, Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) said that executive orders from the president will allow some reforms to be made that don’t require congressional approval.

Speier declined to provide details in advance of the administration’s official rollout of its proposals.

Comprehensive background checks will also be proposed, she indicated.
