Michael Kehoe

The police chief for Newtown, CT, backs President Obama’s position over the NRA’s on gun violence.

In an interview with NBC, Chief Michael Kehoe asks the White House to “Ban assault weapons, restrict those magazines that so have so many bullets in them, shore up any loopholes in our criminal background checks.”

Kehoe, who was one of the first on the scene at the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre says the scene of carnage still haunts him. He also tells NBC that his officers had less firepower than Adam Lanza, the gunman.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has announced that they will oppose any congressional efforts to cut down on gun violence, labeling any such effort as an assault on the second amendment.
