Apple spent $1 billion on advertising in 2012, a new report reveals.

Apple’s advertising costs rose from $338 million in 2006 to $933 million for 2011, and skyrocketed to $1 billion in 2012 as the electronics giant pushed new gadgets.

The costs came from products like iPhone 5, iPad, and iPod as Apple sought to dominate screens across America and the world.

Even with all that spending, Apple ended the year with $121.3 billion in cash, money that can be used for future expansion and acquisitions.
