Karl Rove - American Crossroads

Top Republican operative, Fox News pundit, and former Bush aide Karl Rove is now promoting a “new world order” conspiracy theory in anti-Obama attack ads.

The ad, “World,” from Rove’s American Crossroads Super PAC, attacks President Obama’s response to the murder of America’s ambassador to Libya and claims that rogue nations were meeting at the United Nations to form a “new world order.”

The supposed “new world order” conspiracy theory has floated on the fringes of the conservative movement since the mid-1990s. It claims that there are plans in the United Nations to take over the entire world, including subverting the existing U.S. government to international control.

It has no basis in fact, and has repeatedly been disproven.

The usage of “new world order” in Rove’s ad may indicate ongoing frustration with Mitt Romney’s inability to consolidate the conservative base of the Republican party. Invoking “new world order” may be a way for Rove to scare these voters into backing Romney in November.
