War On Women? Conservative Wants Secret Rape Records For Campaign Ammo

A conservative activist is seeking to unseal juvenile rape records in order to attack a Democratic candidate for attorney general.

John Galvin has asked a judge to open up records in 93 rape cases. Galvin wants access to the files to probe the involvement of Kathleen Kane, who served as assistant district attorney in Lackawanna County in Pennsylvania.

The Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office told the judge they opposed the release of the information because “the information sought to be divulged would infringe upon the confidentiality of minor victims.”

Republicans in Pennsylvania have claimed that Kane was weak in prosecuting rape cases, but recently had to edit an ad making similar allegations against Kane after the district attorney objected.
