Why Are Prostitutes Swarming D.C.?

Washington D.C. is experiencing a surge in prostitution and police think they know why.

In August the D.C. Metro Police Department made 11 prostitution arrests near downtown construction projects — new apartments and hotels — and they believe there’s a connection.

Appearing at a neighborhood meeting, a D.C. police lieutenant said the surge may be thanks to construction workers in town with extra money to spend from their paychecks. He said that cops have noticed prostitution arrests may be tied to changes in construction work shifts.
