Canadian Teacher Mary Gowans: Sex Teacher Allegations Ruined Marriage

Mary Gowans, the Canadian teacher accused of having sex with a teenage student, said the allegations ruined her marriage.

Under cross examination in court Monday, Gowans said that her union forced her to quit her job after the claims surfaced and that pressure from the charges caused her marriage to end. She told the court, “my life had been destroyed on every possible level. I felt I didn’t have anything left.”

The prosecutor accused Gowans of quitting to avoid an investigation by the school board, a charge she denied.

Gowans also denied that she showed off her thong underwear to entice the boy.

Gowans is accused of exposing her breasts to a teenage boy and asking him to fondle her. In previous testimony she was unable to explain how the boy knew she had breast implants. The boy worked as a babysitter with Gowan’s two students. She was his 8th grade French teacher.
