A federal court has ruled that a school district is not financially liable for illegal affairs between teachers and students.
The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago ruled in a case involving a teacher who exchanged sexual texts with a student that because the school district did not have enough evidence to suspect the teacher, they are not liable in court for the results of the crime.
A three judge panel ruled, “to know that someone suspects something is not to know the something and does not mean the something is obvious.”
