On The Trail, Obama Makes Birth Certificate Joke

At a campaign stop in Florida, President Obama joked with citizens about birth certificates.

Appearing at the Gator Dockside sports bar, the President approached a table full of kids when their adult companion pointed to one of the children and said, “he was born in Hawaii.”

Obama smiled and turned to the boy and asked, “You were born in Hawaii? You have a birth certificate?” Everyone at the table laughed.

Some conservatives have promoted the conspiracy theory that President Obama was not born in the United States, even after he produced his long-form birth certificate proving he was born in Hawaii.

Among those who claim Obama wasn’t born in America is Donald Trump, a top supporter and fundraiser for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.
