Mitt Romney presented a defense for ignoring America’s military during his convention acceptance speech.

Responding to an inquiry from Fox News reporter Brett Baier, Romney claimed, “When you give a speech, you don’t go through a laundry list, you talk about the things that you think are important.”

Romney’s comment would seem to indicate that he didn’t think it was “important” enough to mention America’s armed forces.

By contrast, President Obama made several references to the U.S. military in his acceptance speech. The commander-in-chief referred to “Americans who still serve in harm’s way,” describing them as “a generation whose sacrifice has made this country safer and more respected.”

Obama also referred to “heroes” in the armed services whose “spirit defines us.”
