The Republican Party’s 2012 platform integrates language from anti-porn groups that could lead to a federal war against porn.
Morality in Media, a pro-censorship group, applauded changes made to the platform that would “prohibit distribution of hardcore pornography on the Internet but also on hotel/motel TV, on cable/satellite TV, and in retail shops.”
Most legal scholars believe that the distribution of pornography over the Internet to adults is protected under the First Amendment to the Constitution.
Some believe that Mitt Romney has allowed the anti-porn language in order to re-assure those in the religious far right who are skeptical of his candidacy.
