Jordyn Wieber’s 2012 Olympics isn’t going according to plan.
The 17 year old Wieber failed to qualify for the Women’s Olympic gymnastics all-around final, placing behind teammates Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas.
Her performances on the balance beam and floor exercise were below the World Champion’s standards.
Wieber cried after the final results were revealed.
According to the Olympics internal news agency, Wieber said: “It is a bit of a disappointment. It has always been a dream of mine to compete in the all-around final of the Olympics.”
Her coach, John Geddert, issued a statement: “I’m basically devastated for her. She has trained her entire life for this day.”
On Twitter, Wieber’s mother Rita said, “My one wish right now would be to give my amazng daughter #jordyn_wieber a huge hug. So proud of her. She is all class!!!”
