How Facebook Helped Turn A Woman Into A Prostitute

A Filipina woman was lured into the world of prostitution thanks to a Facebook post.

A Dubai court has convicted a 33 year old Filipina maid for sexually exploiting her 31 year old friend. Prosecutors say that the maid enticed her friend to come to Dubai for work.

Soon after she arrived the friend says that the maid confiscated her passport and said she would have to pay over $5,400 to get it back. The maid forced her friend into prostitution in order to pay off the money.

The woman claims she was forced to have sex with “nearly 11 men against my will” and that “there was another woman who worked as a prostitute” in the same apartment.

The maid has been sentenced to three years in jail, and will be deported at the end of her sentence.
