Voula Papachristou: Greek Athlete Kicked Out Of Olympics For Racist Tweet

Voula Papachristou, a triple jumper for Greece, has been kicked off of that country’s Olympic team after a racist tweet.

Papachristou sent out a message saying, “With so many Africans in Greece, at least the mosquitoes from the West Nile will be having homemade food.” Greece’s Olympic committee said that the message was “contrary to the values and ideas of the Olympic movement.”

In the past Voula Papachristou has reportedly expressed sympathy for Greece’s Golden Dawn political party, who has used racial hatred to earn political office.

In a supposed apology she wrote: “I am very sorry and ashamed for the negative responses I triggered, since I never wanted to offend anyone, or to encroach on human rights.”
