A new study has found a connection between risky sexual behavior by teens and the amount of sexual content in movies they’ve watched.

Comparing the sexual behavior of teens exposed to movies with and without sexual content, researcher Ross O’Hara from University of Missouri found that “sensation seeking, or the tendency to seek more novel and intense sexual stimulation, does seem to increase in young people who watched more movies with sexually explicit content.”
Over six years, researchers found that teens who watched sexier movies had sex at a younger age, had more partners, and were less likely to use contraception.
