Carrie Underwood Backs Gay Marriage

Country superstar Carrie Underwood is a supporter of gay marriage.

Underwood, known for her devout Christianity, tells The Independent that “As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.”

While Underwood could face a backlash from conservatives who have lashed out at gay marriage and its supporters, says she disagrees with “people who use the Bible for hate.”

President Barack Obama recently revealed his support for gay marriage.
