Kuwait’s government wants visitors to know that bikinis aren’t acceptable at public beaches. The leaders of the conservative Muslim nation have issued a warning to visitors in order to stop violations before they happen.
“Wearing a bikini is not acceptable in our community on public beaches,” said Colonel Adel Al-Hashash, Director of Public Relations and the Moral Awareness Department. He told the Kuwait Times that “on public beaches we can arrest any person committing immoral acts.”
On private property, the Kuwaiti government would need permission before issuing a citation or arresting someone for wearing a bikini.
