Over 3 Million New iPads Sold Over Launch Weekend

Apple’s third-generation iPad is a hit. The company announced today that 3 million units were sold over the March 16-18, 2012 weekend.
Senior vice president Philip Schiller declared it “the strongest iPad launch yet.”
Reviews of the new device have touted the clarity of its improved “Retina” display as a key selling point. Sales of Android based tablets have lagged far behind iPad, while Microsoft is reportedly planning a Windows-based tablet system.
