Karen GillanKaren Gillan, who plays Amy Pond on BBC’s hit series Doctor Who, will be quitting after fall episodes of the sci-fi show are released.

Gillan tells the Daily Star that “death could be an option” for her character, and that “once she’s gone, she’s gone. I want people to remember the Amy Pond era as a good one.”

Her character has a key place in the Doctor Who mythos, and unlike other companions her time with “The Doctor” is likely to have a long-lasting impact. [Daily Star]
