A new study appears to show that usage of the DHEA hormone could ease symptoms of menopause and boost the sex lives of women. The study, from the University of Pisa in Italy, studied 48 postmenopausal women and found that those who had been treated with DHEA had increased sexual activity compared to the rest.
Professor Andrea Genazzani, who led the study, said that “The work shows that DHEA has potential, especially for those women who may have problems in taking more conventional HRT (hormone replacement therapy). But this is a small study, a proof of concept. What we need to do now is to look at a larger study, to confirm that these initial results are valid.”
