Romney Again Defends False Ad

At a campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa, Mitt Romney again defended the ad his campaign created that fakes a quote from President Obama. Speaking to reporters Romney said, “This ad points out, now, guess what, it’s your turn. The same lines used on John McCain are now going to be used on you, which is that this economy is going to be your albatross.”
Romney’s defense rings untrue, because the ad does not indicate that President Obama is quoting Sen. John McCain. The ad makes it appear as if then-Senator Obama said, “if we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose” when it was Obama actually quoting McCain.
The Pulitzer-prize winning fact checking website Politifact rated Romney’s ad “pants on fire” and said, Obama’s comments “have been taken out of context in a ridiculously misleading way.” [AP]
