Silvio Berlusconi, the scandal-plagued prime minister of Italy, is set to step down from office in January 2012 according to Italian media reports.
Berlusconi has faced several votes of no confidence over the past 12 months, many of them related to the media magnate’s sexual escapades and habit of appointing showgirls to key government offices.
