Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz Fired

Carol Bartz, who failed to turn around search engine Yahoo! and used profanity-laced tirades, has been fired. In typically abrasive fashion Bartz announced to employees via e-mail that she had been fired “over the phone by Yahoo’s chairman of the board.”

Instead of innovating at the pioneering search engine, Bartz engineered the outsourcing of Yahoo’s search to Microsoft’s Bing. Timothy Morse, the company’s current CFO, will be the interim CEO. [NY Times]
