Michele Bachmann Caught In Lie About “Family Reunion”

Fresh off her win in the Iowa straw poll, Rep. Michele Bachmann has been caught in a lie. Bachmann cited a family reunion as the reason why she was late to a campaign event, but now it has been revealed that Bachmann never attended, according to a Politico report.

Bachmann held up the reunion to Fox’s Chris Wallace in an appeal to family values, noting that “We’re having a big family reunion today in northeastern Iowa so I’ll get to go and see all my relatives.” Instead of going, Bachmann sent her husband and children.

Team Bachmann, apparently fearing some sort of backlash from the gaffe, did not answer Politico’s request for comment. [Ben Smith]
