If Texas Governor Rick Perry is elected to the presidency, women can expect a leader who opposes many of the rights they’ve fought for over the last 40 years. An examination of Perry’s positions shows a consistent campaign against a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion.
Perry supports plans giving women inaccurate information before they can access abortion services and signed a law mandating visits to the doctor to get that information.
During his term as Governor, Perry also signed a law supporting “crisis pregnancy centers” that have been shown to harass, and intimidate women.
Perry also called the Roe vs. Wade decision “shameful” and has repeatedly expressed his decision to repeal laws giving women the choice of having an abortion. [NARAL]
