Report: 56.2 MPG To Be New US Fuel Standard

(National Confidential) — By 2025, all new US cars may be mandated to get an average of 56.2 miles per gallon. A Wall Street Journal report indicates that Obama administration officials have presented the proposal to Detroit automakers.

The current requirement for US cars is 27.5 mpg, among the weakest in the world.
