Diane Lane Cast As Superman’s Mother

Diane Lane has been cast in the role of Martha Kent in the upcoming reboot of the Superman movie franchise. Warner Brothers, the parent company of Superman owner DC Comics, made the announcement today.

Lane’s role will be Superman’s adopted mother, one half of the Kansas couple who found the Kryptonian rocket ship that sent Superman to planet Earth.

Zack Snyder, who will direct the movie, said “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”

Lane, who turned 46 this past January, has had Academy Award, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.
